Good Morning Readers;

This morning we continue our journey through the cycle of March's Worm moon. It is widely accepted as the last moon of winter heralding the coming Spring. The Native names for this moon reflect the changing of the seasons and the hopes of the coming Spring. We have phased through the Full Moon today and enter the time of the Waxing Gibbous Moon.Wiccan and Pagans find this to release or banish negative or destructive parts of out life. We clear these energies in preparation of the coming New Moon.

The Worm Moon
Snow slowly begins to melt, the ground softens, and earthworms show their heads again and their castings or fecal matter can be found. Other signs of spring gave rise to other variations: the cawing of crows (the Crow Moon); the formation of crusts on the snow from repeated thawing and freezing (the Crust Moon); and the time for tapping maple trees (the Sap Moon). Christian settlers also called this the Lenten Moon and considered it the last moon of winter.

Waxing Gibbous Moon:

The waxing gibbous moon happens when the moon is between a 45 and 90-degree angle with respect to the Earth and Sun. So we are seeing more than half of the moon illuminated and less than half in shadow. The word gibbous refers to phases where the moon is more than half illuminated. “Waxing” essentially means growing or increasing in illumination. Each evening, as the moon’s orbital motion, carries it towards the Earth-sun line, we see more of the moon’s day side.

Each lunar cycle begins with a new moon. As the Moon moves eastward away from the Sun in the sky, we see a bit more of the sunlit side of the Moon each night. We call this waxing. After the new moon, the sunlit portion is increasing, but less than half illuminated, so it is a waxing crescent moon. When half of the Moon’s disc is illuminated, we call it the first quarter moon. As the sunlit portion continues to increase, now more than half illuminated, it becomes waxing gibbous moon. When the Moon reaches maximum illumination, a full moon, the Moon has completed one-half of the lunar month.

During the second half of the lunar month, the Moon grows thinner each night. We call this waning. The waning gibbous moon phase occurs first, followed by the last quarter moon when half of the Moon’s disc is illuminated. Next is the waning crescent moon, which wanes until the illumination is completely gone; a new moon

Today is the last day of February, which means we are one month closer to Spring, in theory.March will come in like a lion for many of us here and hopefully leave like a lamb. But for today, the Maple Sugar Moon has crossed over to a Waxing Gibbous in its journey through the night time sky. The moon is in Cancer today until 12:53 pm. so if there is any domestic issues requiring  great communication skills , this morning is the best time to get on it... like talking your teenage son into finding the floor in his room... for example. After that is done, sit back and relax as the moon will be void-of-course until Sunday at 6:34pm when we enter Leo. Maple Sugar Moon:

Legend has it that North America is the back of a turtle and it’s eye is here in New England. If you take a close look at the shell of a turtle you can count out thirteen different plates on its carapace. And every year has thirteen moon cycles that complete the year.

According to Anishinabe legend, this month’s full moon, the 3rd moon, is called the Maple Sugar Moon, the only time of the year sap flows from the maple trees. In the hilltowns of Western Mass it’s the month steam pours out of our area sugar shacks and fresh maple sap is boiled down to make maple syrup. Many sugar shacks invite families to their annual pancake breakfasts during these weeks to enjoy fresh maple syrup and share in the process of making syrup.

Waxing Gibbous Moon:

The Gibbous Moon falls between the quarter and full moon phases. More than half of the moon is visible. As each day the gibbous phase continues, more of the moon is seen in the sky as it nears the full moon phase. This is a time of perceived acceleration as people, animals, things and energy can magnify in their intensity.

The Cancerian character is the most perplexing of the signs.  Cancer can range from the timid, shy, dull and withdrawn to brilliant, friendly and famous.  Cancerians run the entire gamut of human emotion. Fundamentally conservative and home-loving by nature, they appreciate the security of a home-base in which to retire when the stresses of living become too much to bear.

Void of Course: 

The moon is considered void-of-course as it migrates from one sign to the other. Most feel this is a time to sit back and relax as spells or intentions during this time may not turn out as planned. For those of you like me .. addicted to busyness the moon's voiid-of -course days remind me to sit back and smell the roses. Good Morning Readers:

This evening we remain in the 1st quarter of the waxing moon. Allowing us  to continue the growth of our intentions for the month as we continue to the Full Moon on the 5th of March.  The moon will also enter a void-of-course at 3:43 am. until Friday at 7:50 am when the moon enters Cancer.

Storm Moon

Like most of our moons, the one in March is called a number of names,  depending upon the tradition. You could call it the Sap Moon, the Crust Moon, the Crow Moon, even the Maple Sugar Moon or the Worm Moon.According to lore, the full moon was named for the time of year when robins start to reemerge from where they spent the cold season, tugging at worms in the thawing ground.Though it’s true worms would be more accessible to birds when spring hits, robins actually never leave most places, unlike many birds that do migrate elsewhere for  the winter. The American Robin spends the whole winter in their breeding range,” according to Cornell’s Lab of Ornithology. But because they spend more time roosting in trees and less time in your yard, you’re much less likely to see them.”Much like the robin The Sap Moon and Maple Sugar Moon is so named for the sap for the sap oozing from maple trees  long  considered a sign that spring is about to arrive. 

Of course, the truest mark of spring doesn’t happen until, March 20 at the vernal equinox

Though there’s always a chance for a late season snow storms  (like the ones that could hit parts of the Midwest and Northeast Sunday into Monday), spring is literally right around the corner.

1st Quarter moon:

The First Quarter Moon appears approximately a week after the New Moon.  We might call the First
Quarter Moon, as well as the Last Quarter Moon, “the half Moon,” because the Moon appears cut in half.  It
is not a quarter of a Moon at all in appearance.Every night the Moon rises in the East a little later and the thickness of the Waxing Crescent gets fatter until the shape of the Moon is half a circle. This is the First Quarter, also called by some people the Waxing Half Moon. It is dark on the left and bright on the right.The Waxing First Quarter Moon rises about at noon and sets about at midnight.After that, the Moon kind of starts to look like it is pregnant. It is perfectly round on the right side, but bulged out past half-way on the left. This is the Waxing Gibbous Moon. You can continue to do waxing, drawing, increasing, or growth spells.

Void-of-course: 

Void-of-course motion is the Moon reaches near the end degrees of the zodiac sign that it has been traveling through. From the time, it makes its last aspect or energy connection with another planet is when the void-of-course motion begins. This period of time, today is when you may feel confused or not sure of what direction to go. This void-of-course period can create unexpected results. You may experience delays and frustrations. During this period of time, it is best to avoid making decisions. It will be much easier to just go with the flow of what is around you. If you can avoid shopping, signing contracts or making important decisions during this time, you will avoid difficulties later on. You will save yourself wasted time, money and effort by paying attention to the do's and don'ts of this period of time. Try looking at the list below and experiment for yourself. You will discover that this time period is best for subjective, non-materialistic avenues of involvement and you may feel much more at ease after having this time to ponder and reflect on important decisions that you may need to make.
